He was predeceased by: his parents, John Coleman and Bertie Alexander Coleman; his brother Derle Coleman; and his son John Alan Coleman. He is survived by: his wife Vertalee Brock; his daughter Estelle Miller (Ron); his daughter-in-law Donna Coleman; his son Dale Coleman (Ann); his sister Sarah Darden; and his sisters-in-law, Ellen Lovett, Jean Morrow and Linda Brock. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
