He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Damon and Addie Larrow Johnson Benson; his spouse Mabel Earlene Wood; and his stepsons, Billy, James and Jerry Spencer.
He is survived by: his daughters, Linda Thomas of Rising Star, Texas Glenda Wilson of Rising Star, Dixie Renz of Montalba, Susan Long of Rising Star and Sarah Adams of Eastland, Texas; his stepsons, Kenneth Spencer, Bobby Riggs and Alvin Spencer; and his sister Lorene Clark of Buchanan Dam, Texas. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
