He was predeceased by: his parents, Daisy Atkinson and Fenton Atkinson; his siblings, Kenneth and Marian Stones; and his son Don Atkinson, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Libby Atkinson of Rio Hondo, TX.; his grandchildren, Zach Atkinson and Renee Rogers (Ryan) of Oklahoma; his stepchildren, Gregory Shifflett (Kelli), Donna Walter (Martin) and Christy DiLeo (Scott); his stepgrandchildren, James, Katherine Shifflett, Jessica, Andi Walter and Wyatt DiLeo; and his brother-in-law Henry Almond. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
