He is survived by: his children, Nydia Alaniz (Gregorio) of Edinburg, TX, Lionel Perez (Claudia) of Mission, TX, Veronica Villarreal (Juvenal) of Houston, TX, Monica Perez of McAllen, TX, Liza Garza of Edinburg, TX and Loreen Garcia (Benito); his grandchildren, Kevin James Alaniz, Roxanna Alaniz, Katie Joanna Alaniz, Lionel Isaiah Perez, Maiah Alessia Perez, Ataliah Rubee Perez, Olympiah Jade Perez, Jakob Villarreal, Savannah Renay Villarreal, Eduardo Angel Silva, Oscar Garza III, Evelin Marie Garza, Melaina Linay Garcia, Yasleen Anahi Garcia, Nayleth Itzel Garcia and Aislari Mabel Garcia; his great grandchildren, Jenesis Janelle Alaniz, Cheyenne Helena Alaniz, Alayna Diana Sanchez, Ryleigh Rose Reyna and Maylinn Lae Alvarado; his sister Yolanda Escalante (Perez); and his extended family Cynthia "Pimpis" Vargas. He is also survived by nephews, nieces.
