He was predeceased by: his parents, Don Sabas Cortez, Sr. and Petra Lopez Cortez; his siblings, Sabas Lopez Cortez, Jr., Olivia Gene Herrera (BeBe) of Rosenberg, Pedro of San Antonio, Gregorio of Rosenberg, Frank of Rosenberg, Bernardo (Ben) of Fort Worth, Roberto, Pablo of Rosenberg, Rigoberto (Rigo) of Wharton and Elvira Cortez Vargas of Dallas; and his aunts and uncles, Pablo Lopez, Julio Lopez (Tules), Christina and Susana Lopez.
He is survived by: his wife Dominga Bentancur Cortez; his children, Rafael Jr. (Tito), Moiseis (Moy), Senaida Cortez (Sandy), Consuelo Cortez (Connie), Julio Enrique and Oralia Ann Cortez (Yaya); his nephew Domingo Herrera; and his extended family Bentancur. He is also survived by his numerous nieces, nephews, dear friends.
