He is survived by: his wife Dr. Patricia Shupp Mitchell; his daughter Laura Mitchell-Brewer; his son-in-law Tyler Brewer; and his brothers, William Larry Mitchell (Beth Tabor) and Terry Lee Mitchell (Rhonda Mitchell). He is also survived by extended family and close friends.
