He was predeceased by: his parents, John Jr. Barksdale and Hannah Barksdale; his son Frederick Barksdale Jr. (Ricky); and his siblings, Angela, Billy and Alfred Barksdale.
He is survived by: his son Jonathan Barksdale of Austin, TX; his fiancée Annie Lidge; his grandson Devontae Barksdale; his siblings, Yvonne, Sharon, Yolandia Barksdale of Houston, TX, Shelondia Barksdale of Killeen, TX, John III (Cynthia) of Orlando, FL, Edward of Omaha, NE, Raymond of Gary, IN, Kelvin of Dallas, TX and Kenneth (Tina) of Merrillville, IN; his godson Edward Guy of Katy, TX; his daughters, Kindra Lidge and Robin Hershkovitz; and his pet Maxwell Barksdale. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and an enormous circle of friends.
In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, the family is asking that donations be made to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF.org/donate) in honor of Frederick Barksdale.
