He was predeceased by: his mother Flora Mae Sanford; his great-grandparent Margie Ann Cross; his grandparents, Nina Mae Williams and Herman Williams, Sr.; his aunt Ellen Fenney; his sister Yvette Murphy; his uncle Charles Murry; his great-uncles, Elmer Cross, Jessie Cross, Emmette Cross, Dr. Edward Cross and Rev. John Cross; his mothers-in-law, Emma Lee Clark, Essie Mae Walton and Norma Jean Young; and his sister-in-law Carol Sue Taylor.
He is survived by: his father Roosevelt Ward; his wife Loretta Ward (Walton); his children, Courtney Nordessa Ward Thompkins (Arthur) and Corey Darnell Ward; his granddaughters, Ava Je'Nor Ward Thompkins and Cayla Clark Thompkins; his siblings, Anthony Sanford, Reginald Sanford (Linda), Renae Flowers (Terry), Cassandra McCoy (Michael) and Yonquanett Little (LeAndre); his aunts and uncles, Margie Rean West, Terry Sanford, Cassandra Sanford, Herman Williams, Jr. (Sheila), Leon Sanford and Glen Sanford; his siblings-in-law, George Walton (Diann), Darrell Walton (Kathy), Franklin Taylor and Dorothy Walton Williams; his goddaughter Jarielle Benae Nabors; and his cousin Omega Brothers. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
