Gerald Defee Hightower Obituary
Mr. Gerald DeFee "Dee" Hightower, age 75, a resident of Redwater, Texas, died Friday, December 29, 2017 in a Texarkana, Texas hospital. Mr. Hightower was born December 7, 1942 in Rogers, Arkansas, to Bernice and DeFee Hightower. He was a member of Redwater United Methodist Church and a supporter of Jeff Schreve From his Heart Ministry.
His work and moral code of ethics was greatly influenced by his uncle and aunt; Arland and Inez Strickland who raised him from the age of 9. He worked as a plumber"s helper, assisted his uncle in the post office and Ran-Dee"s café/store. He was retired from DDRT at Red River Army Depot. He was an Air Force veteran stationed in Japan.
Mr. Hightower was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Randy Hightower. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Brenda Ridge Hightower; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Gerrid and Mary Hightower of Bedford, Texas, Glenn and Sheila Ridge of Winthrop, Arkansas and Clayton and Tara Ridge of Maud, Texas; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Gary Morrow of Redwater, Texas, Alicia and James Knox of Carey, Ohio and DeAnn "K.C." and P.J. Dornburg of Texarkana; his stepfather, Langston "Lanky" Smith of Arp, Texas; one aunt, Sondra Simmons of Grand Prairie, Texas; 13 special grandchildren, Christopher Hightower, Tristan Hightower, Brayden Hightower, Ethan Hightower, Maegen Turner, Jake Turner, Winter Mireles, Robby Morrow, Brooke Morrow, Bryce Ridge, Presley Ridge, Nathan Knox and Caleb Knox and a number of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.
A man"s life is a man"s life, but the most important thing is that he is washed in the blood of Jesus. Funeral services for Mr. Hightower will be held Sunday, December 31, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Audie Dawson, Ken Golden and Rev. Mindy Zwirn officiating. Burial will follow in the Gravelly Cemetery in Foreman.
