He was predeceased by: his parents, James Morgan and Lavine Hathaway. He is survived by: his wife Lana Dee McWilliams Hathaway of Quitman, Texas; his sons, Grady Hathaway (Charity) of Quitman and Roddy Hathaway of Eugene, Oregon; his grandchildren, Hunter, Luchesse and Fisher; his siblings-in-law, Lance McWilliams (Terry) of Roby, Texas, Mike McWilliams (Jolene) of Odessa and Teresa Meysing (Mike) of Hudson, Colorado; and his close friends, Brent, Wendy and Laramie Chadwick. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
