He is survived by: his spouse Kathy Cowan Smith of Quitman; his son Brian (Julie Smith) of Springfield; his stepson Tyler Cowan of Castle Rock; his sister Jan Allen of Springfield; his brother-in-law Gary Krell of Quitman; and his grandchildren, Taylee Cowan, Alie Smith, Carlie Smith and Jon Smith. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
