He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Yates and Ruth Murray Yates; his siblings, Bertha Yates, Geraldine Yates, Aline Woodward, Polly Cottongame, Myrtle Wilhoite, J. W. Yates and Ralph Yates; and his grandsons, Darren Yates and Jordan Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Yates; his children, Charles Yates, Jr. (Kathy) of Point, Chris Yates (Heather) of Houston, Clint Yates (Lisa) of Poetry, Diana Henderson of Quitman and Angie Cooper (Don) of Quitman; and his sister Kathy Reinhardt (Joe) of Hewitt. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
