He was predeceased by: his parents, Hillary Lee and Leila Mae Cooley; his son Leon Thurmon; and his sister Sue Ellen Wilson. He is survived by: his grandson Solomon; his wife Betty Cooley of Queen City, Texas; his sons, Rickey Cooley (Penny) of Basin and Joel Cooley (Stephanie) of Texarkana, Texas; and his siblings, Kenneth Cooley (Lynn) of Bryson City and Shirley Pinckard (Sammy) of Panama City, Florida. He is also survived by four grandchildren; several great grandchildren.
