He was predeceased by: his parents, Frances Burnett Sturgis and Carroll White Sturgis; and his grandparents, J. H., Lula Carroll Sturgis, George and Laura Yates Burnett.
He is survived by: his former spouse Carey Ann Sanford; his daughter Margery Frances Sturgis (Fran); his wife Lois Detiveaux Sturgis; his children, Laura Sturgis Patterson (Joel), Fran Sturgis Calderon (Joe), Danae Detiveaux Sturgis Fredrickson (Brian) and Hunter Carroll Detiveaux Sturgis (Trey); his sister Elinor Sturgis Davis (J. P.); his grandchildren, Caroline Boone (Andrew), Margaret Rogers (Eric), William Patterson, Tyler Sturgis, Matthew Sturgis, Haley Lucero, Trey Lucero and Isabelle Lucero; his caregivers, McAllen, Waco and Carroll; and his close friends, Joby Mills, Irene Munoz and David Perez. He is also survived by his great grandchildren; nieces, and nephews.
