He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hubert Gilliam and Marcelle Gilliam (Bridges); and his sisters, Carol Sue Hinn and Gloria Ann Gilliam. He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Gilliam of Princeton, Texas; his children, Gregory Lynn Gilliam of Hurst and Ginger Hope Arnold (Dennis) of Keller, Texas; his stepchildren, Dr. Geoffrey Cox (Linda) of Austin and Stephanie Gregory of Princeton, Texas; his grandsons, Jacob Gilliam and Noah Gilliam of Drake Arnold, SPC.; and his sister Elaine Gilliam Alcott of Deleon. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews.
