She was predeceased by: her parents, Elbert Truitt Melton and Rosa Townsend Melton; and her siblings, Shirley Parker, Patricia Simpson, Gary Melton and Ricky Melton.

She is survived by: her sons, Carl Brooks (Becky) and Terry Brooks (Susan); her grandchildren, Tonya Chipman (John), Jessica Callaway (Jason) and Ashley Clement; her great grandchildren, Logan Carter, Brooklynn Carter, Dakota Chipman, Mackenzie Chipman, Lexi Clement, Zack Callaway, Elliott Callaway, Johnny Lee Callaway and Allieya Chhoeuy; and her great great grandchild Miller Rae Chipman.

Visitation was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Bright-Holland Funeral Home (2601 Lamar Ave, Paris, TX 75460). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
