He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Hofmeister and Grace May Shaw (Murray); his uncle Walter Householder; his aunt Elizabeth "Betty" Householder; his son Walter Moore Hofmeister; his former wives, Beatrice David and Patricia Hofmeister; and his siblings, Dale Hofmeister, Shaila Hofmeister, Pat Craighead and Theodosia Milas.
He is survived by: his wife Josephine Ruiz-Hofmeister of Poteet, TX; his daughters, Nanette Lynne Nehila (Charles) of Donora, Amy Beth Hofmeister of Donora and Lisa Marie Hofmeister of Greenville; his stepdaughter Domitila Ruiz of Jourdanton, TX; and his sister Shelly Jean Casilleja (Sarah "Betty" Dushac). He is also survived by grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
