He is survived by: his sister Ruby Evelyn Gardner; his wife Judith Nelson; his children, Ralph Nelson Jr. (Regina Grajales) and Jacquelyn Rogers; and his grandchildren, Allison Rogers (Brian Rodgers), Samuel Rogers, Jacob Rogers, Olivia Rogers, David, Katy Valentine, Nathan Ramon and Noah Ramon.
