She was predeceased by: her husband Van Thigpen Sr.; her parents, Edwin Fredrick Hetzel and Roselee Rogers Hebert; her granddaughter Kristy Robbins; her daughter-in-law Kay Thigpen; and her siblings, Willie Mae Stifflemire, Kathrine Schmidt, June Scrofen, Hallie Bennett and Joe "Butch" Hebert.
She is survived by: her children, Van Thigpen Jr. (Denise) of Lumberton, James Thigpen (Elena) of LaBelle, Tommy Thigpen (Cynthia) of Port Neches and Sheryl Thigpen Robbins of Montgomery; and her siblings, Edwin Hetzel of Port Arthur and Melba (Wolf). She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, her twenty-one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Clayton Thompson Funeral Home (5200 W Parkway St, Groves, TX 77619). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Greenlawn Memorial Park (3900 Twin City Highway, Groves, TX 77619).
