He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Tom Elgar and Kathleen KenneyElgar; his wife Bernice Elgar of Port Neches, Texas; his sister Patricia Kirkham (Granville) of Rochdale, England; his stepchildren, Richard Miller (Jane), Dena Lambert (Sidney) of Port Neches, Texas and Dennis Miller (Debbie) of Manchester; his grandchildren, Ken Thornell, Jeni Peterson (Joe), Nick Thornell, Charles Miller and Ray Miller; his great grandchild Brendan Thornell; and his grandchildren, Ava Thornell, Teresa Warren and Michael Thornell.
