It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Manuel Tristan Mendez of Port Lavaca, Texas, born in Yorktown, Texas, who passed away on February 26, 2023, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Faustino Martinez Mendez and Rosa Tristan Mendez; his wife Mary Perez Mendez; and his siblings, Frances McHenry, Fred Mendez and Lupe Mendez.

He is survived by: his children, Diane Mendez Romo (Patrick L.) of Leander, Charles Mendez (Paula T.) of Victoria and Robert Rene Mendez of Port Lavaca; his siblings, Julia Lara of Port Lavaca, Dolores "Lola" Ramirez (David) of Port Lavaca, Jesse Mendez Sr. (Elida) of Houston and Johnny Mendez (Mary) of Dallas; and his sisters-in-law, Andrea Mendez and Ana Maria. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
