Helen Thomas Obituary

With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Helen Thomas of Port Lavaca, Texas, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Helen left this world on February 27, 2025 at the age of 94, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ben Dworaczyk and Veronica Dworaczyk; her husband Hennessey S. Thomas; her daughter Theresa Hartl; her granddaughter Melissa Weaver; and her siblings, Bernadine Alexander, Charlotte Sartor, James Dworaczyk, Benny Dworaczyk and Archie Dworaczyk.

She is survived by: her children, Andy Thomas (Carol) of Port Lavaca, Benny Thomas of Port Lavaca, Mickey Thomas of Port Lavaca, Ted Thomas (Leslie) of Victoria, John Thomas (Sandra) of Katy and Mark Thomas (Tamara) of Palos Park, IL; her siblings, Veronica Henderson of Rockport, Barbara Vivion (Tom) of Blessing, Frank Dworaczyk (Jane) of Austin and Marty Dworaczyk (Brenda) of Port Lavaca; her son-in-law Ervin Hartl; and her sisters-in-law, Peggy Dworaczyk, Jimmie Dworaczyk and Pat Dworaczyk. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

The lying in state will be held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home (123 Newlin St, Port Lavaca, TX 77979). Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church (415 W Austin St, Port Lavaca, TX 77979). A rosary will be held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations be given in her memory to Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.
