He was predeceased by: his wife Inez Valdez; his son Gustavo "Tavi" Valdez; his parents, Manuel Valdez and Maria Elena Valdez; and his siblings, Clemente, Pedro, Manuel Valdez, Guillermina Gutierrez and Maria Elena Martinez.
He is survived by: his children, Oscar Valdez Jr. (Irma), Clemente Valdez, Sr. (Janie) and Mary Helen Silva (Javier); his daughter-in-law Gina Valdez; and his sisters, Delia Garcia, Teresa Alonzo and Martha Garza. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in memory of Oscar Valdez, Sr. to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. Port Isabel, TX.
