He was predeceased by: his parents, Mae Huffman Surette and R. P. Surette; and his brothers, George Surette, Norman Surette and Bobby Surette.
He is survived by: his wife Kim Surette of Port Arthur; his children, Rusty Surette and Shanna Jean Surette; his grandchildren, McKalib "Mackie" Bargainer, Liberty "Libby" Thompson and Korinne Lynn Thompson; his sister Joann Huffman; his sisters-in-law, Deborah Jean Bullion (Jim Gascoyne), Susan Elizabeth Mercer (Tyran), Peggy Lynn Johnson (Alan) and Kristina Lynn Berg (David); and his nieces and nephews, David Berg II, Brent Joseph Fontenot, II, Ashia Fontenot, Kaitlin Jean Gascoyne, Taylor Berg, Anthony Berg, Brooke Surette, Joshua Surette, Mykah Apperson and Jackie King.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Russell's honor may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
