He is survived by: his children, Tawana Laurent of Oklahoma, Tiffany Hawkins-Carter (Kethen) and Jahlani Hawkins; his sisters, Audrey Britton of Maryland, Elizabeth Bernard (Jake), Nancy Scaggs (Eddie) of Port Arthur, Mary Freeman and Patricia Harris of Houston; and his aunt Bessie Bob. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
