He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Charles and Elvina Charles; his wife Eva Bernadine Charles; and his siblings, Grime Charles, Gerald Charles, Alton Charles, Justine Collins, Ethleen Lemelle, Anna Mae Martin, Eula Mae Charles, Judy Charles, Joyce Johnson and Thelma Jones.
He is survived by: his children, Arthur Charles Jr. (Twanna) of Greenville, MS and Lisa Coleman (Willie); his grandsons, Brandon Charles and Kameron Charles of Katy, TX; his siblings, Charlie Charles, Richard Charles (Rita) and Pearlie Bailey; and his sisters-in-law, Shirley Mae Pitre Joseph and Betty Ann Pitre Leday. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
