She was predeceased by: her parents, Johnnie B. Edwards and Ara Bertha Edwards; and her children, Hence Howard Brown Jr., Lois Auzenne and Christopher Edwards.

She is survived by: her children, Hendry A. Johnson (Debora), Dr. Lula Gholson (Edward), Quansoniella Allen (Clarence), Valeria Anderson Dallas (Tom) and Karen Frelow Port Arthur (Marvin).
