He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Barbay of Port Arthur; his children, Mari Vell (Ray) of Cross Roads, Terri Splawn (Stevie) of New York, Shelley George (Chad) of Allen and James Barbay (Andrea) of Nederland; his siblings, Douglas Barbay (Judy) of Nederland, Michael Barbay of Crosby and Beverly LaFleur (John) of Nederland; and his brother-in-law W. J. Sonnier of Tyler, Texas.. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
