Barbara Jean Smithy Obituary
We are sad to announce that on August 26, 2021, at the age of 83, Barbara Jean Smithy of Port Arthur, Texas passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles V. Hanson, Jr. and Adeline H. Albright Hanson; her brothers, Charles V. "Junior" Hanson, III and Arthur "Art" Hanson; and her husband Gene Robert Smithy.
She is survived by: her children, Gena Carter (Doug) of Nederland, Leigh Ann Brittain (Mark) of Port Neches, Craig Smithy of Port Neches and Greig Smithy (Julie) of Nederland; her grandchildren, Alexis Smithy, Kristin Burman, Trace Holmes, Alexandra Hebert, Laurel Brittain, Roxanne Mitchell, Tyler of Washington, Chad Carter and Josh Carter; and her brother David Hanson (Peggy) of Bridge City. She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Kidney Foundation or St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital in memory of Barbara.
