With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Thelma Ruth Smith of Ponder, Texas, born in Decatur, Texas, who passed away on November 3, 2023 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Jimmie Lewis and Lottie Lewis (Patton); her husband Oather Smith; her siblings, Donnie Lewis, Bill Lewis, Jimmie Walker, Bob Lewis and Gene Lewis; her nephew Jimmy Wesley Taylor; and her niece Kim Roan.
She is survived by: her aunt Sis; her nephew Kyle Roan (Emily); her great-niece Lottie; her great-nephew Lincoln of Krum, Texas; her niece Jessica Kloiber (Curtis); her great-nieces and great-nephews, Hadley of Krum, Texas, Clem, Joyce Deussen of Ponder, Texas, Chris, Dana Burr, Clem Jr., Leah Deussen of Ponder, Texas, Tyler, Cassidy Deussen, Eric, Cassi Auton, Michael and Tammy Durrett; her cousins, Donald, John, Lori, DeDe, Tonette, Randy, Mary, Donna, Sue and Debra; and also, Braidyn, Blaine of Ponder, Texas, Charley of Ponder, Texas, Addy of Duncan, Oklahoma, Taylor, Nolan, Mason, Jenson, Everett of Ponder, Texas, Kay Darnell of Ponder, Texas, Frank, Amber Castillo, Ashtyn, Camdyn, Landyn of Ponder, Texas, Joseph and Delanie Temple of Ponder, Texas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
Thelma became a pillar in the Ponder community where she donated her time to coaching little league baseball, fundraising for the Ponder Volunteer Fire Department, teaching bible study and hauling with Dana around to high school rodeos.
