He is survived by: his children, Justin Smith of California, Matthew Smith of Rhode Island and Melissa Berrios of Ohio; and his stepchildren, Bradley Vaz of Decatur, Dominick Vaz of Rhode Island, Maria Vaz of Rhode Island and Elizabeth Vaz of Rhode Island.
