He is survived by: his wife Mary Alice McGovern (O'Connor); his children, Sharon Fink (Scott) and John McGovern, Jr. (Donna); his grandchildren, Brandon Fink (Lauren Ali), Brittany Kepple (Michael) and Alyssa Stewart (Andrew); his great grandchildren, Sadie, Arianna and Callie Grace; his stepgrandchildren, Stephanie, T. J., Zachary and Tyler; his siblings, Wayne McGovern (Barbara) and Karen Smith (David); and his brothers-in-law, Michael O'Connor (Jean) and Gerald O'Connor (Susan). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
