We are sad to announce that on March 7, 2024, at the age of 83, David Collins of Plano, Texas, born in Dallas, Texas passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester William Collins of Ft. Worth and Ruby Edna Sanford Collins of Judsonia. He is survived by: his wife Charlene Collins; his daughter Roxanne Collins Tedford; his son-in-law Dr. Ryan James Tedford; his grandchildren, Emma Grace Tedford and David James Tedford of Mt. Pleasant; and his sister Nancy Collins Ellington of Allen, Texas..

“My heart greaves for Charlene and Roxanne. She has lost a wonderful husband and friend, and Roxanne has lost her father. I have lost a comrade in arms whom I have known since David and I served together as Lts in the 2nd Bn, 30th Inf, in Schweinfurt, Germany from 1964 – 1966. David and I also commanded battalions in Germany at the same time. I lost my wife of 56 years in October. When Charlene informed me of David’s death, it felt as if another piece of my life had dropped away. Redlion 6.”

“I worked with Dave at Lockheed Martin as well as serving with him on the Dallas Military Ball committee. One of the very finest men that I’ve ever known. Dave was a genuine war hero. In Vietnam he led an infantry company. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in combat. Twice he was awarded the Silver Star, our country’s third highest recognition for bravery. Yet Dave was humble. He was also kind, gentle and genuinely cared about others. RIP Dave..”
