He was predeceased by: his parents, Phil Blackwell, Jr. and Mary Lou Blackwell (Taylor); and his brother John David Blackwell. He is survived by: his daughters, Donna Redfearn of Mount Pleasant, Texas and Diana; his son-in-law Ron Reese, Jr. of Texarkana, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Megan Thompson (Blackwell), Erin Redfearn, Collin Redfearn, Ron Reese, III (Stephanie), Daniel Taylor Reese (Vanessa) and Hannah (Tim Potts); his great grandchildren, Stella Kirk, Sadie Reese, Harper Reese, Elijah Reese, Samuel Reese and Gracelyn Potts; and his nephew John Taylor Blackwell.
