He is survived by: his wife Gayla Merritt; his children, Scott Merritt of Pittsburg, Pamela Merritt and Lisa Merritt Shahan (Michael) of Arlington; his grandchildren, Larissa Shahan Jones and Shamika White Walston; his great grandchildren, Caleb, Trey, Elin, Bentley, Adrian and Davina; and his siblings, James F. Merritt (Joy) of Loveland, Colorado and Shirley Willaby of Forney. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
