He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Simmel and Claire Tschoepe Simmel; his sisters, Patricia Simmel and Ruth Boyd; and his son Nicholas Joseph Simmel.
He is survived by: his wife Connie Chandler; his children, Chris (Leslie) of Valley View and Tiffany Robinson (Kyle) of Pilot Point; his grandchildren, Skylar Simmel, Rowdy and Reese Robinson; and his siblings, Clifford Simmel (Lola) of Arlington, Matt (Patty) of Denton, Texas, Gerry Tischler of Round Rock and Kathy Whitley (Jerry Don) of Pilot Point.
