He was predeceased by: his parents, Francisco Puentes and Sara Puentes. He is survived by: his wife Abelina Puentes of Pharr; and his children, Esmeralda Gonzalez (Pharr) of Alamo, Veronica Cavazos (Raul) of Alamo, Rudy Puentes of Alamo, Leticia Gonzalez (Anselmo) of Edcouch, Fabian Gonzalez of Forth Worth, Rachel Mata of Pharr, Benito Mata, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Alexander Mata (Sandra) of San Juan and Omar Mata (Sheuntae) of Pharr. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
