It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Martina Salazar Vela of Pharr, Texas, born in Cheapside, Texas, who passed away on August 14, 2020, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Arturo Salazar and Ramona Salazar; her husband Julian Vela; and her siblings, Anatalia Gusman, Maria Garza, Epifanio Salazar and George Salazar.

She is survived by: her sister Angelica; her children, Abel S. Vela, Dr. Leonel Vela (Alicia), Delia Alaniz, Dalia Leal (Alex), Julian Jr. and Estela Franco (Jesus); her grandchildren, Kara (Mike), Jessica, Abel Jr. (Stacey), Monica (Jose), Leo Jr., Clarisa (Travis), Adrian (Gennesis), Isaac, Alex Jr. (Erika), Vanessa, Gabriel, Arturo, Jack, Faith, Krysta, Jesus Jr. and Jennifer (Jose); and her great grandchildren, Astryd, Jaiden, Milani, Andrew, Evan, Ian, Angela, Evelyn and Abel III.

Due to restrictions in response to the pandemic, regrettably we will be unable to have the type of Mass and memorial service that is fitting for our dear Mami.
