He was predeceased by: his parents, Gumecindo and Maria; and his siblings, Amelia Cavazos, Lupita Calvillo and Marcelino Hernandez.
He is survived by: his wife Angelita Hernandez of Pharr; his sons, Rene Angel Hernandez (Raquel) of San Antonio, Joel Hernandez (Cathy) of Spring Branch, Ricardo Hernandez (Abelina) of Mission and Noe Lauro "Larry" Hernandez (Sally) of Pharr; his grandchildren, Michael (Robin), Joey, Mark, Victoria, Christopher, Edgardo, Diego and Lilia; and his siblings, David Hernandez of Houston, Belen Cuellar of Ohio, Virginia Saenz (Feliciano) of Corpus Christi, Jose Hernandez (Estella) of Pharr and Dahlia Garza (Oliverio) of Pharr. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
