He is survived by: his wife Josefina Diaz Cardenas; his children, Jacqueline Carrasco, Eric Cardenas (Julie), Crystal Cardenas (Robert Acosta) and Jennifer Cardenas (Jonathan Meraz); his grandchildren, Nickolas Cardenas, Lauren Mercadal, Natalie, Jeremy, Megan Graves, Jarod Cardenas, Michael and Mariah Acosta; his great grandchildren, Abby, Anna Mercadal, Lexi, Austin and Nina Graves; his siblings, Linda Cardenas, Judy Langford (Elmer), Sylvia Morales, Eugene Cardenas (Rosemary), Amos and Adam Laguna; and his son Abel Hernandez (Olivia).

Jennifer, a beacon of selflessness and compassion, made an extraordinary choice: she donated her kidney to her beloved father.
