He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Berthold and Lela Berthold (Hickman); his wife Shirley Loretta Berthold (Rogers); his nephew Albert Luchenbach; and his brother-in-law A. A. Luckenbach.
He is survived by: his sister Dorothy Luckenbach of Tuleta; his children, Becky Cameron (Bill) of Pettus, Patty Killam (Glenn) of Pettus and Jesse Berthold (Deanie) of Beeville; his grandchildren, David O'Brien, Melissa O'Brien, Ashlie Whittemore (Randy), Lyndsie Sharon (Brennan), Michael Killam (Jana), Brandy Whittley and Shalaine Lankston; and his caregiver Julie Dominguez. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
