She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvin McNew and Ada LaVelle McNew; her former husband Dave Kemp; her son Bill Kemp; and her siblings, David McNew and Frances Boehning.

She is survived by: her husband John Rick Newby; her son Allen Kemp (Lesa); her stepson Michael Newby; and her grandchildren, Josh Kemp (Cheri), Derek Drum (Mandi), Ali Shimilimana (Remmy), Kristi Gibbs (Trae), Heaven Kemp and Emily Newby. She is also survived by 11 Great-grandchildren.
