He was predeceased by: his parents, Merrill Thomas and Ruby Lucille Gyger McLain; his siblings, Merrill T. McLain, Jr., Robert McLain, Lorene Carter, Betty Docherty and Bennie Flowers; and his granddaughter Melissa Erin McLain.

He is survived by: his wife Anna Louise Manning; his son Glenn (Susan) of Polk City, Iowa; his grandsons, Brian McLain of Des Moines, Iowa, Ayden and Logan McLain; and his siblings, Patsy McLain of Onalaska, Texas and Gail of Alta Vista, Kansas..
