He was predeceased by: his sister Liska Faye Fancher; his brother-in-law James Fancher; and his daughter Tammy Partin. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Burt; his children, Angie Keel (Randy), Crystal Prihoda (Stephen), John Wood Mathews, III (Heather) and Stephen Lee Mathews II (Tracey); his niece Melissa Williamson (Johnny); and his nephew Shane Elliot. He is also survived by five children (one deceased), twenty grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one more great-grandchild.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Burt's name to the Libby Cemetery Fund, 1326 County Road 271, Garrison, Texas 75946.
