He is survived by: his spouse Ola Pat Kerns; his son Matt Birkla (Marian) of Albany, TX; his siblings, Barbara Birkla Blevins of Hobbs, NM, Juanita Birkla Hill of Conroe, TX and Clyde Birkla of Silver City, NM; and his grandsons, Shane Birkla (Trish) of San Antonio, TX, Stanley Birkla (Robyn) of Midland, TX, Matt Birkla (Sara) of Albany, TX and Mark Birkla of Albany, TX. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
