He was predeceased by: his parents, Baltazar Antonio Vela and Flor Estella Delgado-Vela. He is survived by: his wife Vanessa Villesca; his stepchildren, Janissa Villesca, Isaaiah Garcia and Xavier Garcia; and his siblings, Adan Vela of Pearsall, Esteran Vela of Mission, San Juanita Vela "Janie" of Weslaco, Gilbert Vela of Mission and David Vela of Edinburg. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
