He is survived by: his wife Vicenta Vargas; his children, Brenda Dyer (Heath), Ralph R. Vargas Jr. (Masha), Jody Cazares (Edgar) and Anita Clark (Lee); and his grandchildren, Larry "L. J.", Devin, Marcus, Michael, Noah, Alex, Richard, Edgar Jr., Daniel and Isabella. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.

He also spent many holiday seasons helping build hundreds of bicycles over the years that were to be donated to families in need.
