He was predeceased by: his sons, Luis, Esmeraldo and Amador Lemus. He is survived by: his wife Santiaga Lemus; and his children, Jurenal Lemus (Esther), Federico Lemus (Chavela), Araceli Cardona (Francuco), Silva Lemus (Efrain), Jose Lemus (Marisela) and Arcelia Martinez. He is also survived by his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.
