He was predeceased by: his parents, Lily Mae Hammack and James Artemas Hammack; his wife Lillian Patricia Hammack; his daughters, Robin Kim Coxie and Jimmette Hammack; his siblings, Herbert Haskle, Robert Benjamin, John Everet Robinson, Ardena Hayhurst and Maxine Hammack; and his son-in-law Jay Benjamin Emerick.

He is survived by: his children, Kay Lynette Wood, Madeline Kyle Emerick and James Artemas Hammack III. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
