He was predeceased by: his parents, Brink Powell and Leona Powell; his wife Carolyn Powell; and his siblings, Iva Franks, Ola Lee, Ruth Garlington, Doris Barlow, Alfred Powell, Bill Powell and Elmer Powell.

He is survived by: his children, Mark Powell (Anh), Shelly Bunt (Don), Brent Powell (Laurie) and Lance Powell (DeeAnn). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
